Carolyn Anita Oldroyd

Carolyn Anita Oldroyd, age 73, of Horseheads, NY, formerly of Roseville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. Born March 2, 1950, in Elmira, she was a daughter of the late Rexford and Isabelle (Woodbury) Oldroyd.

Carolyn grew up on the Oldroyd family farm on Route 549 and was a member of the East Lindley Baptist Church. She graduated from Mansfield Jr./Sr. High School in 1968, obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University, and achieved her Master’s degree from Elmira College. She took great pride in teaching Math and Spanish at the Twin Tiers Christian Academy for 41 years. She also taught teen Sunday school for many years, taught at Horseheads Christian School, and served as a senior advisor at Twin Tiers Christian Academy, attending 17 senior trips with students. Carolyn had a great love for music, especially piano, and played piano at her home church for over 50 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and LesErik Achey, of Roseville; niece and nephew, Erika (Horacio) Moises, of Lawrenceville, and Brent (Suzy) Achey, of Millerton; great nieces and nephews, Trent, Kendra, Kadin, Devon and Ashlyn; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her infant brother, Clinton Oldroyd, maternal grandparents, Raymond and Elizabeth Woodbury, and paternal grandparents, Henry and Mildred Oldroyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Carolyn’s name to either the Twin Tiers Christian Academy, PO Box K, Breesport, NY 14816, or the East Lindley Baptist Church, 10039 Tannery Creek Rd., Corning, NY 14830.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 5-7 p.m., at Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933. Carolyn’s funeral service will immediately follow viewing hours at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor Sheldon Roblyer officiating. She will be laid to rest with her family in the Roseville Cemetery, Mansfield, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
