David Barry Rankin

David Barry Rankin, age 86, of Columbia Cross Roads, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He shared nearly 50 years of marriage with Anne Marie (Anderson) Rankin, prior to her passing in 2011. Born January 28, 1937, in Brooklawn, NJ, he was a son of the late David Ross and Patricia Agnes (Gormley) Rankin.

David proudly served his country in the United States Navy, as a Sonar Specialist on the U.S.S Eaton. After retiring as a mail clerk with United States Postal Service, he was employed as a mail clerk with Blue Cross Blue Shield and a bus driver for Chamberlain’s in Mansfield. He was an avid record collector, a connoisseur of beer, and enjoyed playing basketball. David and Anne Marie did everything together, enjoying frequent day trips together, rarely seeing one without the other. He took great care of Anne Marie prior to her passing, while still maintaining his trademark sarcastic sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Robert Kevin Rankin, of Chicago, IL, and Deborah Rankin, of Columbia Crossroads; grandchildren, Jon Snow, of North Carolina, and Cheyenne Snow, of Port St. Lucie, FL; several siblings, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Anne Marie, David was preceded in death by his son, David Michael Rankin in 2017.
