Esther (Marrapodi) Ziegler, age 87, of Mansfield, PA, formerly of Cleveland, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2023, at her daughter’s residence, with family by her side. She shared nearly 40 years of marriage with Daniel R. Ziegler, prior to his passing in 1993, and shared another 25 years with her significant other, Tom Masciarelli, prior to his passing in 2020. Born November 22, 1935, in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (Mercurio) Marrapodi.
Esther retired from General Electric’s Euclid Lamp Plant after 30 years of providing Quality Control. She took great pride in her career and developed a method for the mass testing of halogen bulbs without destroying several in the process. She was awarded a hefty sum of money and saved General Electric millions with her discovery. The only thing more rewarding than her career was the love she had for her family. Esther’s hard-working and kind-hearted nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel A. Ziegler, of Ohio, James P. (Donna) Ziegler, of Ohio, Susan (Francis) Jaquish, of Mansfield, and Gerri (Brian) Bailey, of Ohio; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her late husband, Daniel, significant other, Tom, and nine siblings.
In keeping with Esther’s wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of her family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, Mansfield, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
