Frances “Fran” Doris Nyce, age 71, of Mainesburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at UPMC Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Harvey Nyce, Sr., in 2010. Born June 20, 1953, in Doylestown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Frank Oberlander, Sr. & Doris (Renner) Oberlander.
Fran was a devout Christian and attended church services at the Bakerburg Community Church in Mainesburg. Her family was most important to her, as she cherished every minute spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and sunshine and could often be found performing one of her favorite tasks, mowing the lawn. She also enjoyed various other outdoor activities, including frequent vacations to the beach. Fran was probably best known for her kind-hearted nature and huge heart for people and animals alike, having fostered several outdoor feral cats. Her caring and humorous personality will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Harvey, Jr. & Deserea (Kennedy) Nyce, of Mertztown, PA; daughter, Vicki Nyce, of Mainesburg; five grandchildren, Aliza, Riley, Sydney, Brianna, and Gavin; brother, Frank, Jr.(Doreen) Oberlander, of Skippack, PA; sister-in-law, Rosanne (Ona) Mullenax, Gary, TX, brothers-in-law, Frank (Sue) Nyce and Greg (Missy) Nyce, both of Perkasie, PA; several nieces & nephews; and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Frank Oberlander, Jr. & Doris (Renner) Oberlander, and late husband, Harvey, Sr., Fran was preceded in death by three siblings, Nancy, Mary, and Paul; and a niece, Doris.
