Gary Clyde Belz, Sr.

Gary Clyde Belz, Sr. (Poppy), age 79, of Tioga, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Tioga. He married the love of his life, Jeanette E. (Bower) Belz, on October 26, 1963, sharing nearly 60 years of marriage together. Born April 16, 1944, in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late Carl and Carrie (Garrison) Belz.

Gary was a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church in Millerton and was employed as the 2^nd shift supervisor for Dresser-Rand in Painted Post for 43 years, retiring in 2005. He loved the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing or simply tending to his garden and property maintenance. He is described as a dedicated, hardworking man, who loved to spend time with his family. Gary’s kind-hearted and contagious personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jeannette E. Belz, of Tioga, PA; son and daughter-in-law, Gary C., Jr. and Sharon Belz, of Millerton; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and David Kent, of Millerton; grandchildren, Ryan Belz, Tyler Belz, Janet (Trevor) Evans, and Jenifer Kent; great grandchildren, Rhys and Charlie Evans; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his siblings, John Phillips, Hazel Jones, Bill Phillips and Carl (Jim) Belz.

In lieu flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gary’s name to either the Lawrenceville Fire Department, 9-11 Mechanic St., Lawrenceville, PA 16929, or the Tioga Fire Department, 7 Rarrick St., Tioga, PA 16946.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 3 – 4 p.m. at the West Jackson Baptist Church, 1714 Alder Run Road, Millerton, PA 16936. Gary’s memorial service will immediately follow the visitation hour at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Harold Burrell officiating.
