Harvey Albert Woodburn

April 7, 1941 — April 17, 2025

Elmira, NY

Harvey Albert Woodburn, age 84, of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his daughter’s residence, with family by his side. He shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra Ann Woodburn, prior to her passing in 2023. Born April 7, 1941, in Sayre, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey H. & Lara (Van Sice) Woodburn.

Known as an excellent and quick athlete nick named the “rabbit” in high school, Harvey participated and excelled in several sports including basketball, track & field, football, and baseball, prior to graduating from Athens High School in 1960. He then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. He was a man of strong faith, having attended church services at the First Baptist Church of Elmira, and had attended service at the Roseville United Methodist Church. Harvey was employed and retired as a dedicated Field Maintenance Technician for almost 43 years with Time Warner Cable, out of Elmira, NY. Described by family and friends as a self-sacrificing man’s man, he was a family hero and patriarch, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, with no questions asked.

Coming in a close second to the love and compassion he had for his family would be Harvey’s love of sports, college basketball, and especially the New York Yankees & New York Giants. He was an outdoorsman, having enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping trips with his family. He also enjoyed collecting coins, gardening, bowling, softball, bacon/egg/cheese bagels, decaf coffee, horseshoes, and above all, spending time with his cherished grandchildren. Affectionately known as ‘Grandpa Joe’ to his great grandchildren, Harvey was an active and doting father, ensuring his daughters wanted for nothing. He could say so much without saying much at all with his kind-hearted and soft-spoken personality, which will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters and sons-in-law, Denise L. & Stanley C. Harris, of Elmira, and Deborah L. & George, Jr. Pribulick, of Milton, DE; grandchildren, Brandon Kinsman and Stephanie Shepherd, Brett (Aubrianna) Kinsman, Sierra (Gavin) Ball, Justin Pribulick, Tyler Pribulick, Lauren Pribulick, and Benjamin Pribulick; great grandchildren, Oliver and Grayson Ball; sister-in-law, Barbara Crippen, of Mansfield; Brother-in-law Ronald Sundloff Lockwood NY; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Johnston, Linda Sundloff, and Mary Barry; brothers-in-law, Alan and Jack Crippen; sisters-in-law, Joan Vrahas and Beverly Watson; and nieces, Veronica and Kathy.

In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Harvey’s love for the Roseville UMC’s involvement in the community, memorial donations can be made to the Roseville United Methodist Church, 4118 Rte. 549, Mansfield, PA 16933.
