Jerald “Jerry” J. Rumsey, age 85, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, with family by his side at the UPMC Williamsport Hospital. He married the love of his life, Deanna L. (Shaw) Rumsey, on May 22, 1956, sharing 66 wonderful years of marriage together. Born June 28, 1937, in Bungy, PA, he was a son of the late Walter B. and Iva Mae (Moore) Rumsey.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marines and was honorably discharged, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was employed at First Citizens Community Bank in Mansfield for 39 years, retiring in 1999 as the Senior Vice President. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield, a member of the Corey Creek Golf Club and a lifetime member of the Arnot Sportsman’s Club. Jerry took great pride in serving his community as a member of the Mansfield Lions Club for 55 years, having received the Melvin Jones Award, and was one of the first recipients in Pennsylvania of the Meritorious Support to the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation Awards.
One of Jerry’s greatest loves was snowmobiling, taking trips to Canada, the Gatspe Peninsula and Jackson Hole, WY with his son. His passion of snowmobiling kept him riding well into his 80’s. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, spending time with his family and doing nearly everything alongside his wife, Deanna. Jerry’s hardworking, kind-hearted, and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Deanna L. Rumsey, of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and James Loomis, of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, R. Todd and Catherine Rumsey, of Troy; grandchildren, Jena Schaaf, Janelle (Brian) Alexander, Hannah (Scott) Kroll and Abby (fiancé, Anthony Ingenito) Busch; great grandchildren, Ryker, Layna, Amelia and Audrey; sister, Lois Peters, of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Alma Rumsey, of Anderson, SC; several nieces and nephews; family by marriage; and many dear friends.
