JoAnn K. (Fessler) Wemesfelder

JoAnn Kelly (Fessler) Wemesfelder, age 81, of Covington, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at her home in Mansfield, surrounded by her family. 

She was the daughter of the late Mary (Kelly) and Harry Fessler, of Covington. 

JoAnn was a 1960 graduate of North Penn High School, Blossburg, PA, and a graduate of Rochester Business Institute in Rochester, NY. Following graduation, she was employed by Xerox of Rochester, NY. After moving to Liverpool, NY, she was employed in banking. JoAnn returned to her hometown, where she began a long career with the former Commonwealth Bank and Trust Company and retired from what is now known as Northwest Savings Bank. 

Notable for her compassionate nature, JoAnn volunteered her expertise, assisting numerous community members in reconciling and rectifying their checkbooks. She also served as a Notary and was a Putnam Township Auditor for many years. She was a faithful member of Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield, a member of the Church Ladies Guild and the Good Neighbors Club. She was a member and past president of Blossburg BPW, along with memberships to the the Mansfield BPW, Mansfield Lions Club, and other area social clubs, including Blossburg VFW, Hamilton Club, Arnot Sportsman’s Club, Hillside Rod and Gun Club, and the Morris Run Legion, where she enjoyed Friday night dinners with her friends. She also enjoyed dancing, cards, travel, playing the ponies, and time spent with friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly JoAnn and Jeffrey Farrell, of Mansfield; her grandchildren, Ronald (RJ) and Jolyn Farrell; special family, Rich and Tina VanNoy, of Winsor NY, and their children, Mara and Hunter VanNoy; her brother, Gene Fessler, of Mansfield; and 3 generations of nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her beloved sister-in-law, Ginny (Creeley) Fessler, and her endearing companion, Byron VanNoy.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 5 – 7 p.m., at Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, 130 S Main St, Mansfield, PA 16933. JoAnn’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, Thursday, June 22, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Child Catholic Church, 242 S Main St, Mansfield, PA 16933, with Rev. Bryan Wright presiding. She will be laid to rest in St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Blossburg, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
