Larry Francis Pratt, age 75, of Millerton, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center, with family by his side. He shared nearly 28 years of companionship with his closest friend and partner, Bill “P.A.” Alexander, prior to his passing in 2003. Born June 23, 1948, in Elmira, NY, he was a son of the late Earle and Sylvene (Aldrich) Pratt.
Larry took great pride in his profession, serving nearly 40 years as a Medical Technician in the Temple University Hospital Lab. He also honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Facing the end of his life on this earth, Larry simply stated that he loved and cherished his career, life, and family. He had a knack for entertaining anyone around him and was quick to bring a smile to the faces of family, friends, children, and colleagues. When Larry entered the room, there was sure to be a cheerful atmosphere with plenty of laughs. He also loved to binge watch Soap Operas and Netflix, along with his annual trips to Las Vegas and the Outer Banks. He was no stranger to social media and was known for capturing photographs to post on Instagram. Larry’s sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and strictly regimented lifestyle will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Earl “Bill” (Eula) Pratt, of Elmira, NY, Helen R. VanDelinder, of Millerton, and Gary L. (Mary Helen) Pratt, of Millerton; 21 nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and many dear friends.
In addition to his partner and parents, Larry was preceded in death by his nephew, Joshua Pratt, in 1976, great nephew, Benjamin Pratt, in 1998, and brother-in-law, Frank VanDelinder, in 2022.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Larry’s name to either the Roseville United Methodist Church Women’s Fellowship, 4118 Rte. 549, Mansfield, PA 16933, or the Mansfield Firemen’s Ambulance Association, 379 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933.
