Lorraine Beverly Hamblin

Lorraine Beverly (Selbig) Hamblin, age 72, of Newton, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Lenoir Healthcare Center in Lenoir, NC. Born November 24, 1951, in Blossburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ardeen Selbig and Faye (Taylor) Selbig.

Lorraine served most of her career in the healthcare industry as a Certified Nursing Assistant at local nursing homes. She enjoyed her daily walks, cooking for her neighbors, crossword puzzles, watching John Wayne movies, drinking coffee and a relaxing cigarette break. She was strong-minded and strong-willed, at times stubborn, but nonetheless will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Selbig (Mark Vandegrift), of Elmira, NY, Jay Neally (Amy Heffner), of Osceola, PA, and Michael Horton, of North Carolina; sister, Eva Neally, of Dansville, NY; grandchildren, Alysia, Andrea, Meagan and Nick; niece, Misty, and nephews, Clifford and Steven; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Damieon Horton.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4-6 p.m., at Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. Lorraine’s memorial service will immediately follow visitation hours at 6:00 p.m., and she will be laid to rest with her parents on a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Mansfield, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
