Marjorie M. (Strock) Hill

Marjorie M. (Strock) Hill, age 86, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Green Home in Wellsboro. She married Harry Paul Hill, Sr. on December 24, 1960, sharing over 50 years of marriage together, prior to his passing in 2010. Born August 21, 1936, in Troy, PA, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Sweeney) Strock.

Marjorie took great pride in being a homemaker for her family and was well-known for her gardening, canning, baking, and cooking talents. She loved cats, family gatherings, and all children, especially her own babies and grandbabies. She also enjoyed tending to her flower beds, watching cooking and soap opera shows, and spending time with her family. Affectionately known as “the gripper” by family and friends for her consistent and powerful parting hugs, Marjorie’s easy-going and kind-hearted nature will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debbie (Edward) Kent, of Wellsburg, NY, Sharon (David) Peet, of Middlebury Center, Sherry (Marty) Cole, of Mainesburg, James Hill, of Roseville, Ted Hill, of Roseville, Julie (Kevin) Watts, of Roseville, Linda (Mark) Dibble, of Roaring Branch, and Kevin (Kristie) Hill, of Covington; 20 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Bellows, Sandra (John) Payne, and Raymond Strock; daughter-in-law, Sue Hill; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her late husband, Harry, and her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her son, H. Paul Hill; two grandchildren, Ronald Hill and Davey Roby; and brothers, Sonny and Robert Strock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Marjorie’s name to Tioga County Veteran’s Affairs, 1835 Shumway Hill Road, Suite #1, Wellsboro, PA 16901, to assist in supporting local veterans.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 12 noon until 1 p.m., at Wilston-Currie Funeral Home, 130 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA 16933. Marjorie’s funeral service will immediately follow the viewing hour at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Harry Colegrove officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Roseville Cemetery, Mansfield, www.wilstoncurriefh.com.
