Sandra A. (Crippen) Woodburn, age 81, of Elmira, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. She was married to Harvey A. Woodburn, sharing nearly 60 years of marriage together. Born November 12, 1941, in Elmira, NY, she was a daughter of the late Rexford O. and H. Marguerite (Holton) Crippen.
Sandra was a devoted wife who worshipped her children and grandchildren, holding her family above all else. She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1960 and was employed at several retail markets in the area. Some of which included TOPS, Iszard’s, Avon, Cole’s Pharmacy, and finally retiring from JCPenney in 2006. She rarely missed the JCPenney retiree lunch dates and gatherings. One of her first jobs was at the Johnson City Shoe Factory, and she also served as a waitress at the X-cel Dairy in Elmira for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elmira, and more recently, the Roseville United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
Sandra was a huge fan of the New York Yankees, Wheel of Fortune, the Hallmark channel, and family gatherings, especially the annual Crippen Reunion. Her family remembers her as spitfire, who told it like it was, however she never had anything negative to say. She consistently only had nice comments for everyone, and a gift of lifting spirits of those around her. Some of Sandra’s additional hobbies and interests included reading, maintaining her flower beds, attending the New York State Fair, and completing puzzles in the local paper, often connecting with family and friends through her favorite puzzle, Jumble. Sandra and Harvey enjoyed going out to places like Light’s Bakery in Elmira together, rarely seeing one without the other. She had a great sense of humor and the little things mattered to her, frequently communicating through phone calls, cards, and on Facebook.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Harvey A. Woodburn, of Elmira; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise L. & Stanley Harris, of Elmira, and Deborah L. & George, Jr. Pribulick, of Milton, DE; grandchildren, Brandon (Stephanie) Kinsman, Brett (Aubrianna) Kinsman, Sierra (Gavin) Ball, Justin Pribulick, Tyler Pribulick, Lauren Pribulick and Benjamin Pribulick; great grandchildren, Oliver and Grayson Ball; sister-in-law, Barbara Crippen, of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack Crippen, Joan Vrahas, Beverly Watson and Alan Crippen; sisters-in-law, Virginia Johnston, Linda Sudloff and Mary Brown; and two nieces, Kathy and Veronica.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Sandra’s name to either the Roseville United Methodist Church, 4118 State Route 549, Mansfield, PA 16933, or the Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, 725 Gee Road, Tioga, PA 16946.
